John Galliano; INFLUENCES
Galliano is well known for taking such diverse sources of inspiration and turning them into a completely new look and collection. Through the 1980’s, a lot of Galliano’s work was historical based. He adapted lot of traditional styles and gave them more modern twists. He studied garments in museums to learn more about all the different kinds of construction methods and ways to cut and drape fabrics to create a whole load of new shapes and designs which inspired his innovative 18th century Incroyables collection for his degree showing.
The majority of Galliano’s collections express a theme complete with historic personalities. Galliano has used the surrealist movement, the matrix film, Edwardian elegance, classic English sportsmen and the soviet or red guard, and Galliano definitely likes to put a sexy more modern twist on these historical events and movements etc.
