Martin Margeila

''margeila for the year 2015..''

Martin Margeila is my favourite designer out of all the 8 designers vie been given to research. I love the fact his designs are so versatile and he incorporates a lot of different patterns and materials in one garment. A lot of his designs aren't symmetrical either and I think that makes his designs personal and different. His work is definitely visionary however some of his garments are similar to those seen being worn today; his clothes appeal to a wide audience and relate to todays fashion scene.

He uses a range of old wigs, canvasses and silk to create couture like garments, he uses random house hold objects to create accessories which shows his talent and flare for uniqueness, like here he's used shuttle cocks to make a sort of waistcoat like accessory;

I love the way he shows lots of different moods within his designs, the colours say a lot about the designs and he seems to use a variety from dull ays and cremes to bright yellows and pinks. Some are more like everyday fashion wear and others are big and dramatic with over sized sleeves and collars, his extravagant designs caught the eye of jean paul gaultier and he ended up working along side him for a while and afterwards brought out his own collection and has been doing catwalk ever since, love his garments and would definitely wear a lot of them myself!
