CAD..

We have been creating some garments on cad to get some good practice. So far I have made a tshirt, a pair of jeans, a basic dress and a skirt. Although cad is difficult, I think I have done rather well in creating these garments and the more practice I had, the better I became. I think it will prove a challenge to create my final garment dress idea on cad, but with some basic instructions and remembering what I've been taught on how to use the many buttons and icons, I will hopefully be able to create a design that is identical to my final creation.

Update..

I have finally chosen my final design for my final garment. I am pleased with it and I think it reflects religion and culture well. I have so far patterned and started on creating my toile, which so far has gone quite well, although I no that once i start to cut up my garment and re sew it back togther again to get the required seam appearence I'm looking for, I may start to encounter some difficulty and some issues. Im really looking forward to perfecting my garment and finally getting the toile finished so i can concentrate on creating my final piece to go down the catwalk!

Skirt with yoke patterning..

Here i am going to explain how i created my pattern pieces for my skirt with a yoke.

Firstly, we all traced around the blocks that were provided for us and made sure we all had the correct markings on them, this was our first draft.

Then, to get our adaptions, we had to create a front and a back yoke. We did this by tracing off the yoke line section of the front and the back piece of the skirt on the first draft. I then cut them out and closed the darts and I then had my front and back yokes. We then had to get the waistbands and we did this by tracing off the waistbands on our first drafts and again closing the darts.

For our final patterns, we have to firstly create the pattern for the box pleat. We did this by tracing off the front part of the skirt from our

update..

At this point in my last brief, i have started to research into a few fashion illustrators to get some inspiration for my final designs.

I have looked at Kenneth Block who was one of the foremost fashion illustrators of the 20th century. I researched into some of his work and then recreated some of it and used his techniques with my own designs.

I also researched into Jennifer Lilya and her designs, which are a lot more modern than Blocks designs. I prefered her style of illustration as it was a lot more detailed and neater. I also tried out her way of illustration.

I have now started to draw up my final design for my garement. I think i have quite a strong design that will reflect my subject of culutre and religion very well and I'm looking forward to start creating and patterning for my garment!
